A Mango is an edible stone fruit produced by the tropical tree Mangifera Indica. One of the most popular and loved fruits of India. There are 1500 varieties of mangoes that are grown in India of which approximately 1000 are commercial varieties. Each Mango has a an unique taste and flavour. The popular varieties are sweet, with a distinctive rich, creamy, tender tasty flesh and a delicate juicy pulp with limited non fibrous fiber. Mangoes range from oblong to round to kidney shaped.
Bananas are one of the most widely consumed fruits in the world and a major agricultural product in tropical countries. India is the largest producer of bananas, contributing significantly to global supply. Rich in potassium, fiber, and vitamins, bananas are a nutritious and energy-boosting fruit. They are used both as a fresh fruit and in processed forms like chips, purees, and baby food. Due to their popularity and shelf life, bananas are a key export item for India, especially to countries like Russia, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
India remains the world's largest rice exporter, with total shipments reaching approximately 17.8 million metric tons in 2024. This figure is slightly down from 17.86 million tons in 2023, primarily due to temporary export restrictions on non-basmati rice imposed mid-year. However, a strong rebound in basmati rice exports, which surged 16.3% to 5.7 million tons, helped stabilize overall trade volumes .
India is a significant exporter of fresh grapes, with exports reaching approximately $328.77 million and totaling 284,269 metric tons in 2023. The Netherlands was the largest importer, receiving $129.68 million worth of grapes, followed by the United Kingdom ($26.35 million), United Arab Emirates ($24.99 million), Bangladesh ($21.53 million), and Russia ($21.37 million).
